New Zealand National Clean Up Week

This week has been National Clean Up week in New Zealand and since we have been learning about our local St Clair environment, we decided that it was time to stop talking and take some action. The weather was atrocious and after several attempts, room 9 managed to get out and start the clean up. Armed with bags and plastic gloves, we first started in our school grounds and then headed out the school gates and around the block. We were dismayed to find so much rubbish and made a WORDLE of our what we found and how we want to remind people of the need to keep New Zealand beautiful.

  1. Well done, Room 9! Thanks so much for cleaning up our community - that is such an important part of our Caring value demonstrated. The senior team went out and cleaned up the coastline during sea week earlier this year and we were flabbergasted at the rubbish that we found around our beach and coastline!

  2. What a fantastic action! I teach Prep (5-6 year olds) in Melbourne, Australia and we have just finished an Inquiry Unit all about looking after the environment and what we can do to keep our school clean. You have done a great job! Love your blog - maybe you can look at ours sometime - http://prepblackburnsouth.blogspot.com/ I think we can learn from each other!
