Using ICT in our class!

In the holidays I went to a conference at U Learn in Christchurch. While I was there I learnt so much about how children best learn, the importance of using ICT and how to use ICT to improve teaching and learning - it was fabulous. I came away really excited and filled with fresh vision for room 9. Because of this, we have been trialling new learning techniques this week in our class. In our inquiry we have been using hyperlinked powerpoints to find out our tasks and wallwisher to record our thinking. To do this successfully we have been having to work really hard on learning co-operatively in small groups and even in the 3 days that we have been doing this, we are starting to get better at it! We are also learning to use digital cameras by ourselves and to upload the photos by ourselves. It has been loads of fun and while things don't always work out just the way I want them to (because I am learning too), it has been an exciting new journey for all us. I even got an e-mail from one of the children last night to say how much they have enjoyed this week at school - that made my night!

  1. Hi Mrs W and Room 9, it is great to connect with you through our blogs. I had an amazing tour of your school a few weeks ago and I think you have an amazing place to learn and grow. I love using our blog and wiki to extend our learning. I was very excited to see a comment from you. I would love it if our classes could connect via our blogs. We have 17 year 4 children and 10 Year 3 children, 14 boys and 13 girls. We are so excited about our musical and our vegetable growing. We would love to hear more about your learning this term.
